Last Saturday was ICE 2011! There has been quite a bit of demand for the videos to be posted, so I’ve posted them here! Please note that there is an on-going Twitter discussion using hashtag #ice2011 if any of you are interested in talking to others who did or did not make it to the conference. Also note that the videos from Waterloo are not the ones shown at the conference; Waterloo wasn’t able to record their streamed videos, so they are working on getting us post-conference versions now. I hope you enjoy these!
Missing: ICE 2011 – Waterloo’s Linda Carson

Thanks a lot for uploading these videos! I’ve just looked at yours and Catherine’s so far but they all seem really interesting.
Also, I think I”ve recommended this book to you a million times already but when I watched your speech and thought about your philosophy of education, I was reminded a lot of The Fountainhead.
In that novel, there’s a character called Peter Keating who always lives to impress those around him and never has an individual thought. On the other hand, there’s Howard Roark who is constantly listening to his own inner voice and seeking to develop his own individual skills as a unique human being. Peter Keating reminded me of a passive student who was only concerned about his GPA and Howard Roark reminded me of a more active student who would use education to develop fully as a person and benefit mankind. He is a hero who has “come alive”.
Thanks
I’ll check it out once I remove all my existing books from my bookshelf
